SOUTH BOSTON, VA. Mrs. Shellie Nelson Bellairs of South Boston, VA died Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the age of 77. She was born in Halifax Co., VA on December 25, 1938 to the late Robie James Nelson and the late Lorene Gravitt Nelson and was married to Delbert Bellairs from Julesburg, Colorado. Shellie was a member of Union Christian Church and was an executive administrative assistant at Martin Marietta. She was a graduate of Oak Hill High School and Athens State College. Mrs. Bellairs was active in community and civic affairs and was an advocate for those in crisis and need. Survivors include her husband, Delbert Bellairs of South Boston; a daughter, Terrie LoRee Bellairs Wood and husband, Zane of Raleigh, NC; two brothers, Ira Brann Nelson of South Boston and James Allen Nelson and wife, Vivian of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Zane Greyson Wood, Tristan Michael Wood, and Ethan Karl Wood; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jack Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home on Friday, February 12, from 7 PM until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home, 202 Eanes St., South Boston.
