Shirley Hamlett Lewis

Shirley Hamlett Lewis went to be with her Savior on June 15, 2020. She was born July 23, 1931 in Leasburg, NC to the late George Lee Hamlett and Beatrice Snow Hamlett. She retired from Westingouse and was a resident at Chase City Health and Rehab. Shirley was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Yancey (John) of Salisbury, NC; and her son, Mike Lewis of Halifax. She also has three grandchildren; Daniel Yancey, Danielle Yancey, and Jason Lewis; as well as three great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Alton Hamlet; her sisters, Ruby Howerton and Lorene Weaver. Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers, George Hamlett, Jr., Ricky Hamlett, and her sister, Joyce Jones. A memorial service for Mrs. Lewis will be held at Bethel Baptist Church on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Tony Brooks officiating. Those wishing to give memorials are asked to consider the Alzheimer’s Association. The family is being served by Cremation Society of Virginia and Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.
