Shirley Boutwell Nelson

ROXBORO, NC - Mrs. Shirley Boutwell Nelson of Roxboro, NC passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the age of 68. She was born in Jack, AL on June 22, 1948 the daughter of the late John Freeman Boutwell and the late Mollie Bundy Boutwell and was married to James Alvin Nelson. A graduate of Zion Chapel High School, Shirley was retired from Russell Stover and was a member of Florence Ave. Baptist Church. Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband, James Alvin Nelson; two sons, Timothy Owen Nelson of Mebane, NC and William Chadwick Nelson and wife, Anna of South Boston, VA; and grandchildren, Andrew Chadwick Nelson, James Jordon Nelson, Matthew Van Furnish, Jake Van Nelson, Michael Caleb Talbott, Tony Woods Elhoms, Gabrielle Nelson Logan, and Timothy Owen Nelson, Jr. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Florence Ave. Baptist Church with the Reverend Doctor Troy Rust and the Reverend Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow in Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM and at other times at the home, 9570 Hwy. 49, Roxboro, NC.
