Stanford Anderson Loftis

Mr. Stanford Anderson Loftis of 3105 Mt. Carmel Rd., Alton died on Thursday. October 8, 2009 at his home at the age of 81. He was born in Halifax County on May 8, 1928 to the late Aubrey O. & Dorothy Ramsey Loftis. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of the U.S. Marines. He was a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church. Mr. Anderson is survived by a sister, Nelda L. Ingram of South Boston; a brother, Stuart Loftis of South Boston; nephews, Wesley Whitlow, Curtis G. "Buddy" Loftis, Jr., and Stanley Loftis; nieces, Christy Bomar, Gayle Loftis-Andretta, and Paige Wood; and numerous great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Curtis G. Loftis and Russell C. Loftis; a niece, Deborah W. Crews; and a nephew, Eddie Loftis. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Olive Branch U.M.C. Cemetery with Rev. Bob Woodfin officiating. The family will receive friends at the home.
