Stanley Dale Yancey

Clarksville, VA - Stanley Dale Yancey, 58, went to be home with the Lord on March 8, 2017. He was born July 24, 1958 at Halifax Hospital to Anne Yarboro and Emron Yancey. Stanley was a loving son, husband, and father, who was married to Angela Overby on May 14, 1988. He was the proud father of Madison Taylor Tang Yancey, a 16 year old sophomore at Bluestone High School. Stanley was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church where he served in various capacities. He had been a song leader and was the chair of the cemetery committee. Stanley lived life to the fullest. He most recently was a trucker, but he enjoyed farming, hunting, mechanical work, drag racing, and helping to coach his daughter’s softball interest. He was a licensed gun dealer. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Angela, his daughter Madison, his mother, Margaret Anne Yancey, 2 sisters, Beverly Chestnutt (husband Donald), Jane Yancey of Burlington, N.C.; in-laws, Larry and Patricia Overby, sister-in-law, Casina Sandifer (husband, Roy and son, Lane) and brother-in-law, Larry Lee Overby Jr. and 12 nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA on Friday, March 10 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Union Chapel Baptist Church, 4433 Shiney Rock Road, Clarksville Va. A graveside committal will be held immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be given to the Union Chapel cemetery fund.
