Halifax - Mr. Steve Hardie Anderson of Halifax passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021 at the age of 67. He was born in Halifax County on September 19, 1954 to the late Dewey Hardie Anderson and the late Cleo Rickman Anderson.Steve was married to Janet Ambrose Anderson. After graduation from Halifax County High School, Steve furthered his education at Elon University, where he was a member of the TKE fraternity. He served on Halifax County School Board for 8 years, serving for a time as board chairman and the Halifax County Education Foundation. He was a service to his community through Hunting Creek Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, the Dan River Baptist Association, for which he was a past treasurer, the South Boston Rotary Club, where he chaired the scholarship committee, Mt. Laurel Ruritan Club, Masonic Lodge Kerns 143 and Halifax County Serenity Gardens. After his retirement, Steve worked with Brooks Lyon Funeral Home serving the community by assisting families who had experienced loss. Other than his family, his greatest passion was UVA sports. A family man, always talking about his family, he leaves behind his wife, Janet; daughters, Brooke Lantor (Nathan) and Lauren Davis (Brad); grandchildren, Keegan Davis, Kehler Davis and Ella Lantor and numerous other family and friends. The services will be private. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Paws & Claws SPCA, PO Box 14, South Boston, VA 24592, the Serenity Gardens Association, PO Box 1363, Halifax, VA 24558, or the Mt. Laurel Ruritan Club, PO Box 23, Clover VA 24534.
