Steve Vandie Saunders

Mr. Steve Vandie Saunders of 5124 Huell Matthews Hwy., South Boston, VA died Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 62. He was born in Halifax County on November 4, 1947, the son of the late Cecil Henry Saunders and the late Margaret Reaves Saunders. Mr. Saunders retired from the Town of South Boston as finance director with 33 years of service. He was a member of McCanless Memorial United Methodist Church, a honorary member of South Boston Fire Company, and a financial adviser for Cluster Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Saunders is survived by his sister, Donna S. Ingram of Halifax, brothers; Marshall S. “Buck” Saunders of South Boston and Cecil Dudley Saunders of Chesterfield; special friend, Pat Riley; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Wickham officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Tuesday night from 7:00 PM to 8:30 and at other times at the home, 5124 Huell Matthews Hwy., South Boston.
