Susan Guthrie Davis, of Virgilina, Va., walked into eternity with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 5, 2024. Susan was born to the late Joseph and Madeline Guthrie in Lynchburg, VA on November 8, 1956.
Susan is the wife of Michael Davis, who survives. Michael and Susan were married December 3, 1976 and celebrated 47 years together. She leaves behind two daughters, who she adored, Melody Davis (Robert) and Nicole D. Marshall (Josh) and her precious grandson, Seth Marshall.
Susan was a great woman, embracing each chapter of her life. First as daughter to Joseph and Madeline Guthrie and sister to Jimmy (Carol) Wade and Charlotte Bowe. Her most important and loved life role was as wife to Michael, mother to Melody and Nicole and grandma to Seth and a dear friend to many blessed individuals.
Susan’s first love was her family. She loved being a stay at home mom for her precious daughters. She was happiest while spoiling her family and friends.
Susan spent over twenty years with Carter Bank and Trust and gave exceptional care to her co-workers and customers.
Susan was always available to any friend in need and loved to “carry on some mess” with people she was close to. Her passing leaves a hole in her family, community, church family and multitude of friends but all will find comfort in many special and precious memories of Susan.
Also left to carry on her sweet memory are her mother-in-law Carolyn Murphy, brothers-in-law Randy Davis (Teressa), Greg Davis (Dolores), Kevin Davis (Debra), Mark Davis (Donna), step mother-in-law, Malinda Davis. Special aunt, Louise DeJarnette. Nieces and nephews, Jamie, Shannon, Michelle, Brittney, Matthew, Spencer, Derek, Mandy, Allyson, Austin and Michael; sixteen great nieces and nephews, a host of very special cousins and a special friend Judy Simpson.
Susan was predeceased by her parents and fathers-in-law, Ed Murphy and Lewis Davis, and step brothers-in-law, Mark and Donald Murphy.
Funeral services will be held at Aaron’s Creek Baptist Church on August 7th at 11:00 am, with visitation one hour prior beginning at 10:00 am.
