Sylvia Cole Lowery

SOUTH BOSTON, VA Mrs. Sylvia Cole Lowery passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 at the age of 80.Born in Halifax County on September 7, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Robert Daniel Cole and the late Mary Seate Cole Elder and was married to the love of her life, the late Marshall Brann “Buck” Lowery , for 43 years. Sylvia was a graduate of Halifax High School, class of 1955 and was an activemember of Mt. Cana United Methodist Church. She loved her church family and friends, especially her closest friends, Carla Rowe, Margaret Perkins, Arlene Hudson, Frances Martin and cousin, Lois Choquette.She was a rehab tech with RehabilitationManagement. Survivors include a son, Marshall“Warren” Lowery(Laura) of Timberlake, NC; granddaughter, Lauren Ashley Burn Carini(Michael) of Lincoln, CA; brother, Otis Cole of Virgilina; sisters, Clara Elliott of South Boston and Eula Fuller(George) of Buffalo Junction, VA; great grandchildren, Mary Jade and Marshall. Other than her parents and husband, Sylvia was predeceased by a daughter, Mary“Joan” Lowery Brandon and siblings, Daniel D. Cole, Ralph F. Cole, and Eunice Cole Lowery. Funeral services for Mrs. Sylvia Lowery will be Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Mt. Cana United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM with Reverend Randy Holmes officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 3, 2017from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
