Tammy Annette Vicks Duke

Mrs. Tammy Annette Vicks Duke of 226 Gentry Ridge Rd., Roxboro, NC died Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the age of 39. She was born in Halifax County on October 5, 1970, the daughter of Edward Vicks, Sr. and Vera Gordon Vicks and was married to Jonathan “J. D.” Duke. Mrs. Duke was a technician for Triangle Urology of Durham. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Women of The Moose. Mrs. Duke is survived by her husband, Jonathan “J. D.” Duke of the home; mother, Vera G. Vicks; father, Edward Vicks, Sr. both of South Boston; sister, Lisa V. Conner and her husband, Steve of Halifax; brother, Eddie Vicks and his wife, Judy of South Boston; mother-in-law, Sharon Duke of Fayetteville, NC; father-in-law, Bonnard Duke of Springfield, MO; nephew, Kevin Conner; and niece, Michelle Thurnes and her husband, James. Mrs. Duke was preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry & Edna Vicks and Eugene & Marjorie Gordon, and her nephew, Bryan Duffer. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George McCullough, III officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Wednesday night from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and at other times at the home of Eddie & Judy Vicks, 8039 River Rd., South Boston.
