Teresa Ann Constable Banyas

Clarksville, VA – Teresa Ann Banyas (nee Constable) passed away Friday, April 19, 2019. Teresa was born January 30, 1927 in Port Angeles, Washington.At a very young age, her family moved to Victoria, on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Teresa was the youngest child of Dymphna Hilda Josephine and Ernest Joseph Constable.Teresa attended St. Ann’s Academy and the values she learned there and from her parents instilled in her a very strong faith. In 1949, Teresa left Victoria and joined the United States Foreign Service with her new career taking her to Haifa, Israel to work in the US Consulate. It was there that she met her husband, John Banyas and they married September 17, 1952 in Haifa, Israel. During their 40 year marriage her next career was that of raising 4 children while traveling around the world with her husband who remained in the Foreign Service until retirement in 1977. In retirement, they bought a farm in Keysville, Virginia and learning from neighbors, raised sheep, cattle, hogs, chickens and ducks. Over the years, friends from near and far visited with them on their farm, aptly named Journey’s End. In February 1993, John died from cancer and with her faith sustaining her, Teresa sold Journey’s End Farm and moved to Clarksville, Virginia to be nearer to her grown daughter, Mary. She loved the town of Clarksville and loved her church, St. Catherine’s of Sienna.In 2014, she moved for the last time, this time to live with eldest son Kenneth in Ashburn, VA.With the help of some very, very, special caregivers and her son (who has earned his wings in heaven) Teresa thrived. Teresa leaves behind four children, Kenneth Banyas (Ashburn, VA), Cathrynn Caddell & husband Phillip of Powell TN, Patrick Banyas of Hampton, VA, Mary Burney & husband Glenn of Clarksville, VA;10 grandchilden including James Burney (formerly of Clarksville), and 6 great grandchildren with the 7th one to arrive any day. A Funeral Mass will be said on Saturday, April 27 at St. Catherine’s of Siena Catholic Church. The famly will recieve friends at the home of Mary Burney,449 Ferry Hill Trail, Clarksville, VA on Saturday, April 27 at 4:00 PM.
