Theresa Mable Herndon Toon

Theresa Mable Herndon Toon of The Woodview, South Boston, VA, formerly of Ridge Rd, Danville, VA, died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the age of 85. She was born September 10, 1928 to the late Robert C. Herndon, Sr. and the late Eva Ruth Herndon. Theresa Mable was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Billy Allen Toon, who passed away on September 18, 2011. Mrs. Toon was retired from Leggetts and was a member of Swansonville Pentecostal Holiness Church, Dry Fork, VA. Survivors include three daughters, Darlene VanHooser of Dry Fork, VA, Vivian McDowell of Louisville, KY and Delores "Dee" Smith and her husband, Mike of Cluster Springs, VA; one son, Allen Toon of Chesnee, SC. Four brothers, Herbert Herndon, Charles Herndon, Dodd Herndon, and Larry Herndon; two sisters, Viola Toon and Audrey Landrum; six grandchildren, Lindsey McDowell, Travis Clay, Elena VanHooser, Kristin Robertson, Lauren Toon and Jessica Toon; two step-grandchildren, Stephen and Trevor Smith; and three great-grandchildren, Kayla Clay, Rylan Robertson, and Madison Clay. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Herndon Jr and Ralph Herndon and Joseph Herndon and four sisters, Ruth Richardson, Naomi Holley, Iris Barker and Marjorie Doss. A celebration of life service for both Billy Allen Toon and Theresa Mable Herndon Toon will be held Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Swansonville Pentecostal Holiness Church, 16300 Mt. Cross Rd, Dry Fork, Va 24549 at 11a.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
