Thomas Allen Brankley, 85, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017. He was born in Mecklenburg County on October 11, 1931 to the late Jacob Davis and Annie Faucette Brankley. Thomas graduated from the Chase City High School in the class of 1952. He married Barbara Michael on December 26, 1952. During his lifetime, Thomas worked as a farmer and warehouse worker. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean conflict. Thomas also served on the Mecklenburg County Board of Supervisors for 16 years. Later in life, he retired from farming and enjoyed his family and fishing. Mr. Brankley is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters, Carolyn Leach of Red Oak, Susan Lane of Stokesdale, NC, Linda Bowman of Red Oak, and Tammy Brankley of Clarksville; son and daughter-in-law David (Ann) Brankley of Clarksville; brother-in-law, Bob Michael; and nine grandchildren, Robin Leach, Lindsey Puryear, Brittany Barnes, Devin Crisman, Lucas Bowman, Sarah Brankley, Samantha Leach, Ethan Bowman, and Amanda Lane; six great grandchildren and special friends, Deloris and John Taft. Thomas is predeceased by grandson, Derrick Brankley; brothers, Jim Brankley, Bill Brankley, Harrell Brankley, Robert Brankley, and Henry Brankley; sisters, Adelaide Brankley and Polly Sodat. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 19, at Ephesus United Methodist Church in Clarksville officiated by the Reverend Randy Baisey and Reverend Jane Lyon with interment immediately following.Visitation will be held at 7:00 – 8:30 P.M.
