Thomas Edward "Tommy" Comer, Sr of South Boston entered his eternal home on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. He was born in Halifax County on November 3, 1945 to the late George Robert Comer and the late Mary Zimmer Comer. Tommy is survived by his wife, Judy Puryear Comer.
Tommy began his working career with Gupton Sheet Metal as a roofer and later went to work with the Halifax County School System in maintenance. Following his retirement he worked as a crossing guard at Washington-Coleman Elementary School and Halifax County Middle School. Tommy was an outdoorsman; he loved fishing, hunting and working in his yard. A member of Grace Baptist Church, Tommy loved attending church and his church family.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; son, Tom Comer (Sarah); grandchildren, Mary Talbott (Kevin), Dillon Comer (Stephanie), Alexis & Bronson Comer, Chevy & Cruz Comer, Bri & Alex Moore; great grandchildren, Jade, Kye & Case Talbott, Brody & Bo Comer, Cade & Jax Williams; Sister, Joyce Morris and brothers, Roger & Bobby Comer.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene, Louis, & Lloyd Comer and a sister, Gladys Williamson.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Grace Baptist Church with Reverend Jack Stewart and Reverend Cole McKinney officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 6-8 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Tommy's family asks that donations be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
