Mr. Thomas Henry Perkins of South Boston died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the age of 98. He was born in Halifax County on August 13, 1912 to the late Henry Thomas Perkins and the late Lizzie Jackson Perkins and was married to the late Ruth Fuller Perkins. Mr. Perkins was retired from Formply and was a member of Revelation Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Billy Alfred Perkins of Halifax; a daughter, Beulah Perkins Chappell and husband, Thomas of Vernon Hill; and two grandchildren, Cathy Tate and husband, Sammy of South Boston and Jamie Chappell of Vernon Hill. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Viola Bray, Mary Lloyd, Lorine Perkins, and Florene Clay; and five brothers, Willie Lee Perkins, Hula Perkins, James Perkins, Robert Perkins, and Woodrow Perkins. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Coghill officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Home on Thursday night from 7 until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home of Billy Perkins.
