Thomas Edward Poythress

ALTON, VA. Mr. Thomas Edward Poythress, of 6126 Cluster Springs Road, Alton, VA died Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the age of 62.He was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on June 21, 1952 to Charles Edward Poythress and Sammie Horne Poythress. He was married to the late Nancy Shotwell Poythress.Mr. Poythress was a graduate of Parkview High School Class of 1971 and was a former construction worker. Survivors include his mother, Sammie Horne Poythress of Brodnax, Va,; two sons, Thomas Edward Poythress, Jr.of Brodnax,Va., Brian Poythress of Lawerenceville, Va.; two daughters, Ashley Poythress of Rougement, NC, Penny Michael of Brodnax, VA.; one brother, Jerry Poythress and wife Sylvia of Brodnax, Va.; one sister, Wanda P.Clary of Richmond, Va; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and special friends Mike and Lynn Helv. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Shotwell Poythress, father, Charles Edward Poythress and son,Heath Poythress. A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Alton Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service, 1:00PM - 2:00 PM.
