Thornton Herbert Herbie Wilkins, Jr.

Thornton Herbert "Herbie" Wilkins, Jr. 58, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 at The Woodview Nursing Home in South Boston. Herbie was born May 22, 1953 to the late Thornton Herbert, Sr. and Bobbie Sue Wilbourne Wilkins. A graduate of Bluestone High School, he was employed at Craddock Terry Shoe Company and then the Family Dollar Store in South Boston. Herbie was a member of Hitesburg Baptist Church and was ordained as a Deacon there on October 24, 1999. Funeral services will be held at Hitesburg Baptist Church at 11:30 AM Monday with the Reverends Bill Wilkins and Mike Riley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Herbie is survived by his cousins, and they will meet with family and friends prior to the service starting at 10:30 am at the church.
