Franklinton, NC – Tommie Puryear Watson, wife of the late James “Chris” Christopher Watson, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the age of 64. Tommie was born on January 15, 1957, in Halifax County, VA, to the late Wardell H. and Nerene Walters Puryear. For many years, she worked as a group leader at Revlon but for the past 8 years, she was a caregiver. Tommie loved shopping, especially yard and estate sales. She was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt, the NC State Wolfpack and any shows and movies in which Tom Selleck appeared. Her greatest passion however were her grandchildren. Left to cherish their many memories are her daughters, Angela G. Sidden (Al) and Christy G. Lewis (Terry); grandchildren, Alison, Christopher, Taban, Summer and Emily; great grandchild, Dakota; siblings, Willard Puryear (Nancy), Dawn Walker (Jimmy), Judy Comer (Tommy) and Bonnie Gordon (Lester), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Tommie was preceded in death by brothers, Wardell H. Puryear, Jr. and Edward Puryear. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Nelson Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Reverends Norman Talley and Don Wilson will officiate the service. The family will receive friends from 7 – 9 P.M. Monday evening at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home and all other times at the home of Willard Puryear.
