Travis Mason Loftis

Bullock, NC –

Travis Mason Loftis, husband of the late Peggy Wilkerson Loftis, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at the age of 78. He was born in Granville County on February 28, 1945, to the late Shirley Mason Loftis and Hattie Callahan Loftis. Travis worked at Burlington Industries for 15 years and then at Harriett Henderson Yarns Inc. until retiring after 33 years of service. Always active in his community, he was instrumental in the creation of the Stovall Rescue Squad and was an EMT with the squad for 10 years.  Travis also was a vital part in the forming the annual Grassy Creek Christmas parade and the building of the Community Center. Travis loved yard work, farming and tinkering around the house. He also enjoyed playing the drums in a local band for many years. He was an active member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Scott Alan Loftis and wife, Tondra Lynch Loftis; grandchildren, Taylor Loftis Womack (Ty), Scott Alan Loftis II; great grandchild, Cayden Womack and brother-in-law, Bobby Wilkerson (Donna). In addition to his wife and parents, Travis was preceded in death by siblings, Shirley Ann Loftis and Winfred Alan “Jake” Loftis.

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, September 29 at Grassy Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour before the service and all other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, Travis's family asks that donations be made in his name to the Cemetery Fund for Grassy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
