"Tuny" Stigall Rice

VIRGILINA, VA “Tuny” Stigall Rice, 79, wife of William Booker Rice, passed away at her home on Saturday, November 22, 2014.She was born March 17, 1935 in Person County, North Carolina to the late Willis Johnson and Lena Seate Stigall.Tuny was retired from Burlington Industries with over 40 years service, serving as Floor Leader in Burling & Mending.A member of Union Christian Church, she was a Deacon there and was a member of the Women’s Fellowship.Funeral services will be held at Union Christian Church at 2pm on Wednesday with the Reverend Norman Talley officiating.Interment will follow in the Virgilina Cemetery.In addition to her husband of 62 years, Tuny is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Wade Thomas and Robin and Terry Wolford, all of Oxford, NC and her sister, Cordelia Morris of Roxboro, NC.Her grandchildren, W.L. Rice of Poulsbo, WA, Wendy Michelle (T.J.) Keeton of Oxford, NC and Doyle Rice of Roxboro, NC, great grandchildren, Zack Keeton of Oxford and Logan and Brady Rice of Poulsbo, WA, three step-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren also survive.She was preceded in death by her son, Lynn Rice, sisters, Mildred Stigall, Texie Humphries, Dorothy Glasscock, Margaret Tuck, and McRee Hite and brothers, Willis Stigall, Caleb Stigall and Curtis Stigall.The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 pm on Tuesday at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to Union Christian Church or the Virgilina Fire Department.
