Velma Carolyn Barksdale

SOUTH BOSTON Velma Carolyn Barksdale of South Boston passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the age of 72. She was born in Halifax County on June 8, 1945 to the late Floyd Washington Robertson and the late Helen Barksdale Robertson. Surviving are two sons, Phillip Barksdale and wife, Connie of Halifax and Bobby Barksdale and wife, Cathy also of Halifax; two daughters, Rhonda Carr and husband, Joseph of Buffalo Junction and Stacey Barksdale of South Boston; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Seamster and husband, Raymond of Halifax and Shelia Martin and husband, John of South Boston; two brothers, Chris Robertson and wife, Mary Jane and Ronnie Robertson both of South Boston; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 10 at 3:00 PM at the Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel with Pastor Gregory Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home on Saturday, June 9 from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM and at other times at Honeytree Apts, Apt A, 2307 Hamilton Blvd, South Boston.
