Vernon Rooker Mears

Mr. Vernon Rooker Mears, 74, husband of Betty Travis Mears, died Monday, April 19, 2004 at Community Memorial Healthcenter in South Hill. Mr. Mears was a U. S. Army veteran, having served in Korean and Vietnam. He retired from service in 1968 after serving his country for 21 years and then worked for Moore's Chevrolet of Clarksville until his retirement. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Woodland Cemetery in Chase City. In addition to his wife, Mr. Mears is survived by daughters, Sylvia Burchett and Victoria Queen, both of Clarksville; stepson, David Queen of Bullock, NC; grandchildren, Andrew Flinn and Christopher Smith, both of Clarksville; brother, Frank Mears of Cary, NC. The family will receive visitors at the residence at any time.
