Virgie Williamson Elliott, 98, born to Robert and Lizzie Thomas Williamson on February 3, 1923, passed away June 27, 2021, at Clarksville Health and Rehab. The majority of life, Virgie lived in Clarksville; she moved to the Aarons Creek Community later in life. In her younger years, she managed Sandy Fork Snack Bar, was owner of Wayside Restaurant and then worked at Burlington Industries 20+ years until retirement. She was a faithful member of Buffalo Baptist Church and a charter member of Bluestone Baptist Church. She was well known for her cooking, love for being outdoors working with flowers and in the garden, and telling stories of her life growing up. She lived through the Great Depression, 5 armed conflicts, 18 presidents and saw a man walk on the moon. Virgie was preceded in death by husband, Howard; son, Mack; half-brothers, Mason, Milton, George and Patrick Williamson; brothers, Richard and Harry Williamson; sisters, Thelma Wilson and Emma Glasscock. Virgie leaves behind daughters, Barbara Downey (Tommy) and Judy Barker (Teddie); grandchildren, Amy Ellington, Chad Downey, Tracey Powell, Timmy Barker and Cameron Elliott; great grandchildren, Ian Stallings, Keely and Skyler Downey, Jarrett and Ryan Powell, Tristan and Everly Barker and Ava Elliott and also great-great grandson, Spencer Stallings. Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Billy Coghill officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service and all other times at the home of Tommie and Barbara Downey. A private burial will be held at Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle Cemetery fund.
