Virginia Lassiter Jeffress

Mrs. Virginia Lassiter Jeffress, 86, daughter of the late Joseph & Jemmie Lassiter, died Thursday afternoon in Pittsboro, NC. Virginia was native to Vance County, NC; graduated from Henderson High School and attended Elon College. As a young woman she served in the USO and became a US Army wife. She traveled the world with their careers. Upon her husband's retirment they moved to Finchley, Va and she later moved to Boydton. While living in Boydton she loved and was known by her job at the Boydton Library. As her health declined she moved to North Carolina to be near her daughter. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 PM at Liberty Baptist Church of which she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She is survived by her daughters Victoria Hutchins of Gambrills, MD and Jane Wrenn of Siler City, NC; a sister Evelyn Woodie of Henderson, NC; 4 grandchildren Adam Wrenn, Karen Jeffress, Elizabeth Wrenn & Kim Oliver; 1 great granddaughter Chelsea Simon. She was pre-deceased by a son William Jethro Jeffress, Jr. The family will receive friends at Liberty Baptist Church Tuesday from 1 until 2 PM.
