Virginia "Jenny" Waltman Hackney

Mrs. Virginia “Jenny” Waltman Hackney of 1064 Seven Oaks Drive, South Boston died Monday, July 26, 2010 at her home. Born in Indianapolis, IN, she was the daughter of the late Charles Waltman and the late Virginia Waltman Loftis and was married to the late Aaron Marvin Hackney. Mrs. Hackney was a retired manager of the South Boston Goodwill Industries Store. She was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church where she was a choir member, Lay Leader, and a former member of the UMW. Mrs. Hackney is survived by her son, Timothy Aaron Hackney of Alton; two daughters, Sharon Walker of Wilmington, NC and Linda W. Cole & her husband, Junior of South Boston; two brothers, Royie Waltman and wife, Edith of Wilmington, NC and Charles Waltman and wife, Carolyn of South Boston; one sister, Mary Yearty of Scottsburg; two grandchildren, Gabriel Aaron Hackney of Alton and Jodi Miller of Lincoln, NE; and her step-father, Stuart Loftis of South Boston. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hackney was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Waltman and Sherman Waltman; one sister, Kathryn King; and a son-in-law, Larry Mashburn. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Hugh T. Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM and at other times at the home of Linda & Junior Cole, 2188 Cherry Hill Church Road, South Boston.
