Virginia Louise Link Howerton, 94, of Buffalo Junction, Virginia passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at her residence of natural causes. Mrs. Howerton was born in Halifax County on September 27, 1926, to the late Edmond Jones Link and Sadie Lillian Tysinger Link. Virginia graduated from Virgilina High School, where she played on the Varsity basketball team. She retired from Russell Stover Candy Factory in Clarksville, VA. She was an active member serving many roles at Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Louis G. Howerton; her son, James L. Howerton; her sisters, Ella Link Smith and Mary Lois Glasscock; two sons-in-law, Gary O. Risland and Dennis E. Price; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Howerton and 3 grandchildren, Dennis W. Price, Rhonda M. Price and Jamie L. Howerton. She is survived by a sister, Ruby L. Parrish of Rougemont, NC; four sons, Mark Howerton (Brenda) of Clarksville, John Howerton of Nathalie, David Howerton and Timothy Howerton of Buffalo Junction; daughters, Mary Lou H. Walker of Buffalo Junction, Sarah H. Price Evans (Perry) of Boydton and Eunice H. Risland of Smyrna, GA. In addition, 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, 1 step grandson, 4 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren also survive. Services will be conducted at 4 P.M. on Friday, October 9, 2020, at Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle Church by the Reverend Billy Coghill and Reverend Robert Ohlmann.
