Virginia Nell Cifers Ramsey

Clarksville, VA - Virginia Nell Cifers Ramsey, wife of William Washington Ramsey, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the age of 82. She was born in Granville County on June 1, 1936 to the late Richard Harvey and Inez Virginia Woodlief Cifers. Nell was a 1954 graduate of Oak Hill High School. She retired from Burlington Industries in 2000 after 32 years of service. Nell was a devoted member of Union Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to her husband of 63 years, survivors include daughter, Faye Middleton of Buffalo Junction; grandchildren Andy Ramsey (Jennifer), Lindsey Morton (Nick), Eric Middleton and Elizabeth Poole; great grandchildren, Jemma Ramsey, Ajae Ramsey and Garrett Zachary Morton; and siblings, Dorothy Elliott of Stoney Creek and Benjamin Cifers (Joyce) of Bullock. Nell was preceded in death by her children, Vickie Ramsey MacIntyre and Thomas Elcon Ramsey, as well as a sister, Frances Callis. Funeral services for Mrs. Ramsey will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Union Chapel Baptist Church with the Reverends Jackie Wray and Chris Sorenson officiating.Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA from 6 – 8 pm on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mecklenburg County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 311, Chase City, VA 23924 or to the Union Chapel Cemetery Fund.
