Virginia "Teeny" Long Collie

ALTON, VA Mrs. Virginia Long “Teeny” Collie passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the age of 80. Born in Halifax County on September 6, 1936, she was the daughter of the late James Brooks Long and the late Edna Williamson Long and was married to the late Johnnie Collie. “Teeny” was a retired dental assistant and her passions were gardening and watching the Atlanta Braves games.She loved being at home and was known county wide for her sweet pickle. A member of First Crossroads Baptist Church, she had a strong faith. Mrs. Collie is survived by a daughter, Gail Meador (Randy) of Blacksburg, VA; sons, Dwayne Collie (Mary Jane) of Halifax, VA and Johnnie Collie, Jr. (Rebecca) of Mechanicsville, VA; 6 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild; and sisters, Mary Ann Pruett and Laura Leach. Other than her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a sister, Francis Marie Hicks; brother, James Franklin Long; and sister, Nancy Elizabeth Perkins. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Visitation Suite at 11:00 AM with Reverend Dan Ward officiating.
