Virginia Coleman Watkins Haga of Boydton passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009. Virginia graduated from Boydton High School in 1935. She attended Farmville State Teacher's College for two years where she received a Normal Professional Certificate in Elementary Education. After teaching for several years, she returned to Longwood College for B.S. and M.S. degrees. Jennie accepted the job of principal at Boydton Elementary School in 1959. After 40 years as a teacher and principal in the Mecklenburg County Public Schools, she retired in 1981. She was predeceased by her husbands, William Morton Watkins and Alonzo B. Haga. She was also predeceased by her parents, Thomas C. and Annie Lina Rogers Coleman, her sister, Nell Rose Coleman and her brothers, Howard David Coleman and Thomas C. Coleman, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Coleman Crowder Sanders, her brother, Edward Euguene Coleman and his wife Leona G. Coleman, and sister-in-law, Erna Rae E. Coleman, her nieces and nephews, Cheryl C. Marsh, Lezlee C. Gilstrap, Martha C. Gotschalk, Rebecca R. Coleman, Kathryn C. Wright, Thomas C. Coleman III, Howard David Coleman, Edward E. Coleman, Jr., Gary R. Coleman, William H. Coleman, and Steven E. Coleman. The family will be receiving friends at the home of Margaret C. Sanders at all times. Her funeral service will be held at the Boydton Presbyterian Church on Friday, June 26, 2009 at 11:00 AM where she was the last surviving member. Interment will follow at the Boydton Episcopal Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Boydton Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the Boydton Episcopal Church Cemetery Fund.
