SOUTH BOSTON Wanda Gail Elliott passed away peacefully in her home on November 18, 2021 at the age of 69. Born in Halifax County on November 4th, 1952, she was the daughter of the late John Curtis Peck and Lois Jean Fallen Peck. Gail never shied away from a hard day’s work, she worked for Wabash in South Boston for 30 years and AW in Durham for 13 years before retiring. Once Gail was retired, she liked to express her endless love for her family in the form of food, especially desserts. You would never leave her house hungry, and she would send you home with mounds of leftovers and treats, whether you wanted them or not. Anyone who spent time in Gail’s house would be inspired to go clean their own homes. Her endearing level of OCD was motivating like that. The highlight of her life has always been her son and her family. Gail truly had the patience of a saint, never having a cross word for her family’s constant shenanigans. Her fridge was always covered, very neatly so, with recent pictures of her family which she changed out frequently. Her sense of humor and the ability to always say what was on her mind will be missed by all that know her. Cherishing their many fond memories are her son, David Elliott and wife Rhonda; her grandchildren, Jerri Lynn Tuck and husband Jon, Ada Marie Mabe and significant other Josh Barker, Burny Mabe and significant other Janae Hansen. She is also survived by a host of beloved nieces and nephews and special friends that she considered her sisters. Gail was loved by so many, and she loved so many that we would never be able to list all the people she held so dearly in her heart. In addition to her parents, John and Jean Peck, Gail was preceded in death by her brother, John Curtis “Bo” Peck Jr. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
