Wanda Louise Sweeney Turner

Mrs. Wanda Louise Sweeney Turner, 83, wife of the Reverend Lewis Warren Turner, passed away Thursday, November 08, 2012 at the Hickory Hill Retirement Community in Burkeville. Mrs. Turner was the daughter of Emmit and Lucy Dillon Sweeney and was born January 19, 1929 in Roanoke. She graduated from Campbell University and the University of Virginia where she obtained her teaching degree. She was employed with the Mecklenburg County School system teaching Special Education for many years. Mrs. Turner was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 2PM Sunday in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Chris Sorensen officiating. Entombment will be in the Eternity Mausoleum in Oakhurst Cemetery. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Turner is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mittie Sue and Jeffrey King of Victoria and sons, Anthony Robert Turner of Clarksville and Lewis Warren Turner, Jr. and his wife, Mei Yin of Chapel Hill, NC. Her grandchildren, Jimmy Turner, Melissa Quinn, Billy Turner, Timmy Overton, Tom Turner and Joseph Turner; and great grandchildren, MacKenzie Quinn and Joel Turner also survive her.
