Webster Leroy Buddy Garnes, Jr.

Webster Leroy Garnes, Jr. "Buddy", 76, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 at his home. Mr. Garnes was born June 26, 1937 in Norfolk to the late Webster Leroy, Sr. and Nellie Francess Persinger Garnes. Buddy served his country in the United States Navy from 1954 until 1958 and was retired from Continental now Verizon after 30 years service. He meant so many different things to all of the lives of those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with his. The common thread was his genuine selfless nature and his willingness to pour his life into others. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 55 years, Shelby; his 5 children and their spouses, Donna Mike; Mike; Rhonda Mike; Timmy Kim; and Jeff Megan; his nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. His sisters, Gloria, Ann, Shirley & Suzi; step-brother, Donnie and step-father, Delbert Parker also survive. A member of Pungo Church of God, 3572 Robinson Road, Virginia Beach, Va, funeral services will be held there on Wednesday at 2PM with interment to follow at Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4080 Charity Neck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 PM Monday at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, Va.
