Willard Leslie "Snake Eye" Overby

Mr. Willard Leslie "Snake Eye" Overby, Sr.of Virgilina died Friday December 4, 2009 at the age of 87. He was born in Halifax Co. on October 24, 1922 to the late Elvin and Fannie Elliott Overby. He was married to Ruth Royster Overby. Mr. Overby was a member of Hitesburg Baptist Church and was a retired heavy equipment operator. Mr. Overby is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mitzie Waller and husband, Dwight of South Boston, Connie Cranfill and husband, Bobby of Virgilina, and Delores Hamlett and husband, Hank of South Boston; one son, Willard Leslie Overby, Jr. and wife, Debbie of Virgilina; a sister, Lois Goad of Nelson; nine grandchildren, Freddie Coates, Jr., Greg Cranfill, Gewndellyn Driskill, Lori Wade, Beth Ralston, Rocki Hamlett, Melanie Medley, Joni Crain, and Chad Overby; eight great grandchildren; and four step grandchildren, Dwight Waller, Jr., April Warf, Donna Hamlett, and Harold Hamlett, Jr. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 7 at 2:00 PM at Hitesburg Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. the family will receive friends Sunday night at Brooks Funeral Home from 7 until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home.
