William Samuel "Sam" Blanks

VIRGILINA - Mr. William Samuel “Sam” Blanks of Virgilina passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the age of 55. He was born on September 7, 1966 the son of the late Hardy Roosevelt Blanks and the late Adah Tunstall Blanks. Sam was a member of Aarons Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. In recent years he attended Hitesburg Baptist Church where he made many friends. An EMT for Halifax County Rescue Squad and an EMT and firefighter for Midway VFD, he grew up farming, worked at Burlington Mills, Lasco Bathware for 33 years, and ran his own landscaping business.Sam was outgoing, brilliant, and loved to help and befriend others. Mr. Blanks is survived by his sister Mary B. Long and her husband, Red, of Roxboro; special friend, Alice Rhett; lifetime friend, Carl Smith; a whole host of cousins; and a large adopted family including his countless friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 29 at 11 AM at Aarons Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Ian Rigney of Hitesburg Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends and loved ones in the church fellowship hall for a light lunch folllowing the burial. In lieu of flowers, Sam's family asks that donations be made to Aaron's Creek Baptist Church, Hitesburg Baptist Church, or Midway Volunteer Fire Department.
