William Causey Cole, husband of the late Estelle Jones Cole, transitioned to his heavenly home on Monday, May 9, 2022, at the age of 100. Born in Halifax County on January 11, 1922, he was the son of the late Fannie Comer Cole and James Ernest Cole. Mr. Cole served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a hard worker who worked at a number of places over the years, including DuPont in Richmond, The Clarksville Times, Vaughan’s Supermarket and Elliott’s True Value. Mr. Cole was a genuine people person who greeted everyone with a smile. He enjoyed gardening and loved to share his harvest with the community. Mr. Cole was a long-time devoted member, deacon emeritus, and served on countless committees at Clarksville Baptist Church. Cherishing many fond memories are his daughters, Wanda Harris of Clarksville and Teresa Whitmire (John) of Danville; grandchildren, Katherine Fisher (Brad), Daniel Harris (Kathryn),Jake Quinton Whitmire (Meredith) and John Quinton Whitmire, Jr. (Pamela); great grandchildren, Bryton Fisher, Ryker Fisher, Mason Harris, Jackson Harris and Emily Whitmire and a sister, Barbara Cole Woltz. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Cole was preceded in death by siblings, Estelle Gupton, Harry Cole and Gladys Newcomb. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 12 at Clarksville Baptist Church with the Reverends Joey Tucker, Jane Lyon and Dr. Greg Randall officiating. Burial with military honors will follow the service in Oakhurst Cemetery. The family would like to extend appreciation to the many beloved caregivers of Mr. Cole, both at home and at Roman Eagle.
