William Wayne Coates

Mr. William Wayne Coates of 7244 Philpott Rd., South Boston died Sunday, April 25, 2010 at his home at the age of 67. He was born in Roxboro, NC on January 10, 1943 to the late Edgar P. and Mattie Ryan Coates. Mr. Coates retired from the US Army and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and VFW Post 8243. Survivors include his wife, Nancy P. Coates of South Boston; a brother, Freddie Coates of South Boston; two sisters, Pat Shelburne of Radford and Janice C. Perkins of Halifax; two step children, Gayle Brown and Carroll Thomason; five step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ron Rhew officiating. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Tuesday, April 27, 2010 from 7 PM until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Halifax Co.
