William Grant Hackney

SOUTH BOSTON William Grant Hackney, husband of the late Jackie Boyd Hackney, passed away early Sunday morning, May 29, 2022, at the age of 92. He was born in Halifax County on June 3, 1929, to the late William Robert and Mozelle Gravitt Hackney. William was a United States Army veteran and a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. He is survived by daughters, Debbie Hackney Daniel and Kelly Hackney Moser; son, Mike Hackney; grandchildren, Jessica, Drew and Grey; As well as, 6 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, William was preceded in death by siblings, Aaron Hackney, Mary Sue Johnson, and Shirley Comer. The family requests in lieu of flowers please consider Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, c/o Margaret Link, 2040 Link Puryear Road, South Boston, VA 24592 or Sentara Halifax Hospice, 2204 Wilborn Avenue, South Boston, VA 24592. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, June 1st, at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1-2 PM.
