William Walker Jones

SOUTH BOSTON, VA Mr. William Walker Jones went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the age of 90.Born August 9, 1926 in Halifax County, he was the son of the late Ocie Mitchell Jones and the late Pattie Sue Walker Jones and was married to Tine Bell Cozart Jones. William was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church, Halifax County Bee Keepers Association, Faulkner Memorial Masonic Lodge #91, Lakefest Shriners, American Legion Post 8 and served as past President of Virginia Gideons International. He was retired from Burlington Industries after 50 years of service in 1997 and he served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Survivors of Mr. Jones include his wife, Tine; daughter, Sharon J. Moore (Jimmy) of Halifax; sons, Christopher D. Jones, Dwight A. Jones (Virginia), and Craig A. Jones (Bryan Price), all of South Boston; grandchildren, Jennifer Carr, Rachel Talbott, Stephanie Moore, Sarah Schmucker, Scott Moore, Mary Margaret Bell Sizemore and John Dwight Walker Jones; great grandchildren, Taylor Terry, Madison Terry, Hannah Terry, J.D. Carr, Jessica Carr, Jordan Carr, Jacob Carr, Aiden Talbott, and Eli Talbott; sisters, Ione Saunders (Jimmy) of South Boston and Shirley Smith (Lindy) of Doswell, VA. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Stover Jones, Franklin Jones, Mitchell Jones and Elizabeth Jones. Funeral services for Mr. William Jones will be Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Glenwood United Methodist Church with Reverend Ohhwan Kim and Reverend Jack Stewart officiating.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 6 to 8:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and at other times the home of Craig and Bryan, 1200 Bold Springs Road, South Boston.
