William Ronald Overbey

Virgilina, VA - William Ronald “Ronnie” Overbey, Sr., husband of Marilyn Loftis Overbey, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019, at the age of 67. He was born in Halifax County on February 19, 1952 to the late Freddie Buck and Clara Matthews Overbey. Ronnie was a Halifax County High School graduate and worked at Russell Stover Candy as a diesel mechanic for many years. After his career at Russell Stover, Ronnie farmed and was a truck driver. He was a member of Hitesburg Baptist Church. In addition to his beloved wife, Marilyn, cherishing his memories are daughters, Christy Overbey Newton (Vince) of Buffalo Junction, Chasity Overbey Bowen (Steven) of Virgilina and Charity Overbey Milam (Josh) of Clarksville; son, William Ronald “Ron” Overbey, Jr. (Jessica) of Oxford, NC; grandchildren, Tyler, Cale and Nate Newton; Bailey, Avarie and Brycen Bowen; Colton and Caden Milam; as well as Addison and William Ronald “Will” Overbey III. Also surviving are sister, Shelby Schout (Philip) of Hudsonville, MI; mother and father-in-law, Don and Alice Loftis, brothers and sisters-in-law, Tim and Dale Loftis, Andy and Cindy Loftis, Joey and Donna Hastings, special brother, Jimmy Wilson and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Hitesburg Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Reverend Ian Rigney will officiate the service. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 P.M. on Wednesday, December 11 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville.
