Clarksville, VA --William “Lee” Avery Redd, beloved husband of Yvonne Speeks Redd, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at the age of 83. Born in Mecklenburg County on August 31, 1937, he was the son of the late William Wesley and Annie Mae Parker Redd. Lee was a graduate of Oak Hill High School and retired from Star Tobacco Company. He loved cars; from auto racing to fixing and showing classic and antique cars. Lee was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan. He will be remembered as the utmost provider for his family, always placing their needs before his own. Cherishing many fond memories are his wife of 58 years, Yvonne; daughters, Cheerita Redd Minnick (John "Beannie" Aldrich) of Chesterfield and Heather "Michelle" Redd Hathaway (Darek Hathaway) of Prince George; grandchildren, Sarah Paz, Christopher Avery Aldrich, Hannah Hathaway and Brandon William Hathaway; as well as great grandchildren, Kori and Kylah Paz. Lee is survived by a brother, Samuel Woodrow Redd of Kinston, NC and was preceded in death by siblings, James “Shorty” Redd, Bradsher Redd, Catherine Williamson and Anne Irby. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday, August 2 in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment in the mausoleum at Dale Memorial Park in Chesterfield will be held on Thursday, August 5 at 1 P.M.The Reverend Jackie Wray will officiate.
