William Loftis Satterfield

Mr. William Loftis Satterfield of 5134 Huell Matthews Hwy., South Boston, VA died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the age of 75. He was born in Halifax County, VA on February 14, 1937 to the late William Satterfield and the late Serena Loftis Satterfield and was married to Shirley Brown Satterfield. Mr. Satterfield was retired from the Halifax Co. Public School System. He was a member of Trinity Congregational Holiness Church. Mr. Satterfield was a member of the Electoral Board, the Board of Retired Teachers, and a former board member of the Halifax Co./South Boston Museum. Mr. Satterfield was a Sunday School teacher, church organist, and church secretary. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Brown Satterfield of South Boston, VA; a sister, Betty Jean Gurley of Goldboro, NC; five brothers, Benton Satterfield, Kenneth Satterfield, Norwood Satterfield, Charlie Satterfield, all of Goldsboro, NC, and Freddie Satterfield of Wilson, NC; three step children, Michael Allen of Gretna, VA, Kimberly Bullis of Greensboro, NC, and Darrin Allen of Winston Salem, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Reba Grice Satterfield. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Dyer and Rev. Michael Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home for one hour prior to the service on Saturday and at other times at the home.
