William Royster "Bill" Walker, 88, of Hopewell, Va., died Tuesday, June 28, 2011. Mr. Walker is survived by his wife of 56 years, Idarea Nelson Walker; his stepdaughter, Emma W. Montgomery; his step grandson Curtis T. Montgomery, III and wife Lesley; and two step great granddaughters Abigail and Madeline Montgomery. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Agnes Walker, and his sister, Marion Smith. Mr. Walker was born April 5, 1923 to the late Charlie Clark and Sallie Burnett Walker, and grew up in Buffalo Junction, Va. He was a 1943 graduate of Clarksville High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Walker worked at Carter Fabrics in South Boston prior to relocating to Hopewell, where he worked for the State of Virginia for 35 years before retiring. The family will receive friends from 10-11am on Thursday June 30, 2011 at Gravel Hill Baptist Church in Buffalo Junction, where a funeral service will be held at eleven o'clock with the Rev. Jim McAlister officiating, interment will follow in the Virgilina Cemetery.
