William Thornton West

Clarksville, Virginia William “Shorty” T. West, husband of the late Winifred “Winnie” Talbott West, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019 at the age of 91. He was born in Mecklenburg County to the late Frank James West and Lila Bell Yancey West. William served his country in the United States Navy.He retired from Talbott & Marks Construction, Barker Construction, and Marjon Construction. William was a member and Deacon of Union Chapel Baptist Church. Cherishing William’s memories are his sons Tim West (Betsy) of Buffalo Junction, Talbott West of Henderson, NC, and Charles “Chuck” West (Christy) of Chase City; grandchildren Brad West, Mike West, Adam West, Kristina W. Lloyd, Meredith Jones, and Kendele Reamey; as well as seven Great-Grandchildren.In addition to his parents and Winnie, William was preceded in death by his son Eddie West. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 12:30 – 2:00pm at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oakhurst Cemetery.
