William Bentley Wilkinson

William Bentley "Bill" Wilkinson, 97, widower of Pearl Hinson Wilkinson, died Friday, September 12, 2008 in Greensboro. The son of Charles Bentley and Imogen Averett Wilkinson, Bill was a graduate of Clarksville High School with the class of 1926 and a graduate of Lynchburg Business College. He was retired from Universal Leaf Tobacco Company as an Accountant; and prior to that he was with Brightleaf and Barley Tobacco Company of Smithfield, NC, totaling 35 years service. He spent 2 years in Sanghi, China with Universal-China. The rest of his career was spent in Smithfield. He retired in 1977. In 1997 he moved to Winston-Salem and resided this last month with his son in Greensboro. Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Susan Grimm officiating. Interment will follow in Oakhurst Cemetery. He is survived by his son, Bentley Wilkinson, Jr. of Greensboro and brother, Woodrow Charles Wilkinson of Virginia Beach, VA. The family will receive friends Monday, prior to service, starting at 10 AM.
