Willie Jasper West

Willie Jasper West, better known as “Doc” by his friends and family, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 9, 2022, at the age of 86. He was born in Granville County on November 15, 1936, to the late Kenneth and Exonie Vaughan West and was married to the late Willie “Patsy” Morgan West. In his younger years, Doc worked as a pipe fitter. In retirement, he enjoyed playing his guitar and joking around with family and friends. He was an avid Nascar fan. Doc was a member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sons, Harvey Jasper West (Rhonda) of Bullock, and Dennis Paul West (Brenda) of Raleigh; 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; a brother, Tommy West (Julia) of Oxford and sisters, Linda Dunkley (Clarence) of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Ann Watts (Danny) of Oxford and Faye Frazier also of Oxford. In addition to his wife and parents, Doc was preceded in death by a son, Jason West; brothers, Danny West and Bobby West; sister, Joan King; and a granddaughter, Haley West.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 13 at Grassy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Cameron Currin officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
