Wilma Jones Puryear

Wilma Jones Puryear, 80, widow of Hudy Hulbert Puryear, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Duke Medical Center in Durham from injuries she sustained in an auto accident.She was born October 28, 1934 in Mecklenburg County to the late Ned and Josie Briggs Jones.A graduate of Oak Hill High School with the Class of 1953, Wilma retired from Burlington Industries after 37 years.Her last assignment was as a Lab Technician in the Finishing Plant.After her retirement, she was a loving caregiver to her elderly clients.A member of Nelson Baptist Church, funeral services will be held there at 2pm on Saturday, with the Reverends Don Wilson and Jim McAlister officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery.Mrs. Puryear is survived by her daughter, Debbie P. Owens of Buffalo Junction and son, Donnie Puryear and his wife, Amy, of Greensboro, NC.Her sister, Alice Bennett of Scottsburg, grandsons, John Lee Puryear and Matthew Donald Puryear, both of Greensboro, NC and numerous loving nieces and nephews also survive.The family will receive friends at Nelson Baptist Church from 6:30-8:30pm on Friday.
