Bessie Rickmond Powell

Mrs. Bessie Rickmond Powell of 103 Rosehill Drive died October 30 at the age of 90. Mrs. Powell was born on November 20, 1919 to the late Henry J. Rickmond and the late Bessie Lee Conner Rickmond and was married to the late Wiley Robert Powell. She was a member of Fork Baptist Church and a homemaker. Mrs. Powell is survived by One daughter; Susan P. Canada & her husband, Kenneth of South Boston; two half-sisters Edith Card of Wylliesburg, VA and Aro Bagby of Keysville, VA; three Grandchildren, Stephanie C. Fallen, Kristy C. Matthews, and Jerry Allen Powell; six Great Grandchildren, Jessica, Katie, Morgan & Mason Bowen, Patrick Fallen, and Anthony Wilkins. In addition to her parents, She was preceded in death by a daughter, Edith Ann Powell; two sons, Robert L. Powell and Charlie S. Powell; one granddaughter, Mary Evelyn Constable; and two half-brothers, Dick and Cecil Rickmond. Graveside services will be held Monday, November 1, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Oakland Cemetery, Scottsburg with Rev. William Coghill officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Susan & Kenneth Canada, 1135 E. Hyco Rd., South Boston, VA.
