SCOTTSBURG - Carrie Ann Williams, wife of Johnny Mack Williams, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 24, 2020, at the age of 69. She was born in Halifax County on September 23, 1950, the daughter of the late William T. and Ellis Martin Hazelwood. Carrie worked as a caregiver. She loved reading, playing cards, gardening and bird watching, but her most favorite thing was spending time surrounded by her family and church friends. She attended the Clover Church of God of Prophecy. Cherishing her memory are her husband, Mac; daughter, Leslie Puryear and husband, William; sons, Wayne Wilborn and wife, Melissa and Kenneth Wilborn; step-son, Johnny Mack Williams, Jr.; 19 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brothers, Ronnie E. Hazelwood and Roger L. Hazelwood; sister, Mary F. Newcomb and many other family members. She is also survived by close friends, Barbara Newcomb and Patsy Owen. Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Richard Lee Wilborn; step-son, David Wayne Williams; brothers, Nelson Hazelwood, James Hazelwood and Sam Hazelwood and sisters, Sandra Lloyd and Margaret Seamster. Funeral services for Carrie Williams will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2020 at Clover Church of God of Prophecy with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Reverends David Wayne Smith and Gary Stoots will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2020 and at other times at her daughter’s home.
