Mrs. Christine Womack Bane, wife of the late Melvin William Bane, passed away Friday,
August 19, 2022. at the age of 84. Born in Halifax County on May 6, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Henry Watson Womack and the late Nannie Owen Womack. Christine was retired from Wabash. She enjoyed crafts, especially sewing, as well as working in the flower garden, which she often did with her late husband. Always family oriented, she enjoyed cooking and preparing Sunday dinners.
Cherishing their many fond memories are her daughter, Theresa Stevens and husband, Terry of Halifax; grandchildren, Timothy Bane and wife, Sharon of Barco, NC, Laura Conner of Halifax, Courtney Garland of Scottsburg and Casey Garland of Halifax; great grandchildren, Makayla Trent, Andrew Bane, Matthew Bane, Austin Bane, Braelyn Conner, Khloe Conner, and Bentley Glass; siblings, Henry Womack, Jr., Oneil McCormick (Wayne), Minnie Gordon, Linda Hamlett and Raymond Womack. She was preceded in death by a son, William Len Bane; siblings, Mildred Womack, Annie Mae Tuck, Frances Bomar and Howard Womack.
The family would like to express gratitude to the special ladies that allowed them to keep Mom at home, Pamela Lacks of Marsha's Homecare, and Kathryn Chappell. They were not only excellent caregivers but also became wonderful family friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel with Reverend Mike Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Dan River Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and at other times the home, 1146 Stevens Lane, Halifax.
