David Bailey "Sonny" Dickerson

HALIFAX Mr. David Bailey “Sonny” Dickerson passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the age of 80. Born in Halifax County on December 22, 1939, he was the son of the late Worner C. and Lucy Terry Dickerson. He was married to Betty Baylous Dickerson, who survives. Sonny was a member of Winns Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and loved his church family very much. He was a member of Bethel Ruritan Club, enjoyed fishing, racing and South Boston Speedway was a passion. Sonny was formerly employed in the maintenance department at Wabash Magnetic. If he wasn’t with his family, he was riding his lawnmower, and always willing to lend a hand to help someone who needed it. In addition to his wife Betty, he is survived by son, Jason Dickerson of Halifax; daughter, Kristie Claiborne (Jason) of Clarksville; brother, Tony Dickerson of Halifax; grandchildren, CJ Claiborne (Whitney) and Kaitlyn Claiborne (Josh Bigger); great grandchild, Lynleigh Claiborne; aunt, Mary Vernon of Alton and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Winns Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jim Kopco officiating.
